Things to Remember

l  You will need to start by tinting smallest flat windows. In this way you will get used to working with the window film.
l  Try to apply the window film in a place which is dust free, well lit.
l  Do not crease the film.
l  Wet your fingertips to prevent fingerprints on the film.
l  Apply the window tint when the temperature is between 40 to 98 degrees Fahrenheit.
l  Do not use ammonia products such as vinegar to clean the windows before or after applying.
l  When you are trimming the film do not press the knife as it may damage the glass.
l  After applying the tint do not roll down your window for two days.

Step 1: Look for Car Tinting Regulations in Your Country

Most countries have stringent traffic rules pertaining to the dark tinted front windows. This is because it would be difficult to identify hit and run drivers. Search online or contact a local dealer to find out more about car tinting regulations in your state or country.

Step 2: Decide the Type of Window Tint

Window tints come in a wide range of colors and different intensity of shades. They also come in different finishes such as transparent, metallic and mirrored. OEM tinted glass is a tint within the glass. This glass comes as a factory fitted option and  are built to be very durable. It comes in a mild tint and is legal in countries which emphasize strict laws. However OEM tinted glass is very expensive to replace if broken. So look into your owner’s manual to find out whether your car comes with factory fitted OEM glass in this case you need not tint your car window. A coating tint is a solution which is applied to the existing glass by spraying. This tint lasts longer than film tinting but is hard to get.

Step 3: Clean your Car Windows

If you want the film to stick to the glass properly you need to clean the inner and outer side of the glass window thoroughly. Spray window cleaning solution to the glass and use a squeegee instead of a sponge to clean it. You might have to clean the window repeatedly to remove the dirt otherwise it would lead to the formation of air bubbles on the film. Clean the gasket which holds the window in place and use a razor blade to scrape off any residue.

Step 4: Pre-cut the Film

First off you need to measure the amount of film required by unrolling the film into the inside of the window. Use a single edged razor blade to trim the film to the required size. Make sure that you leave one extra inch on each side so that the entire window will be covered. Position the film in a manner such that the straight bottom edge extends a quarter of an inch below the top of the inside casket. Use a knife to trip the vertical edges of the film and lower the window by two inches and trim the film to fit the shape of the window.

Step 5: Apply the Window Tint

l  Apply the film liner and spray the application solution to the inside the window.
l  Peel of the film liner and spray the application solution on the exposed adhesive.
l  Use a squeegee to wipe the solution off the glass so that the glue sticks back to the window as it dries.
l  Position the window film onto the adhesive side facing the glass.
l  Place it inside the window by starting with the big edge.
l  Keep the other side of the film away from the window.
l  Use a squeegee to press the film into the glass starting from the middle out.
l  Squeeze your way outward so that there is no chance of air bubble formation.
l  Apply more pressure to the squeegee as the film grabs the glass.
l  Roll up the window and continue placing the film into position.
l  Push the water and soap to the edge using the squeegee.

l  Use a paper towel or a lint free cloth to remove excess water.
