5 Types of Car batteries

Did you know that recycling your car batteries not only help save the environment but also saves ninety percent energy in manufacturing a new battery. Using recycled batteries help you reduce costs and significantly reduce environmental pollution. Are you finding it difficult choose a battery for your car? Well worry no more, as here are five great car batteries which are uniquely designed to suit your car.

Lead Acid Batteries

Lead acid batteries are one of the most commonly used batteries as they contain a combination of lead and sulfuric acid. The electrolyte reaction between the two causes enough power to keep your car running for years. They provide the maximum amp power to a car’s engine. Despite having a low energy to weight ratio and a low energy to volume ratio they are still capable to supply a high power surge due to their high power to weight ratio. They are also relatively cheap and involve less maintenance cost.

Deep Cycle Batteries

They are not as powerful as lead acid batteries but they are designed in such a manner that repeated cycling does not affect their performance. Deep cycle batteries provide less power to car over a long period of time therefore conserving the power and delivering it when needed. They prove to be advantageous when extended power is needed.

Absorbed Glass Mat Batteries

AGM batteries or absorbed glass mat batteries are advanced batteries which have much lower emission levels. They are relatively expensive as they are used to power sophisticated electronic equipment such as satellite navigation systems, electronic control units, music systems and other related equipment. They are commonly used in high end cars which are loaded with electronics. AGM batteries can be connected to an automatic start stop motor which switches off the car’s engine at a road signal. These batteries have a high charge intake capacity which cranks up the engine within a split second. They are also known as valve regulated lead acid batteries which denotes the safety valves present In the battery box. These pressurized safety valves contain mixed with distilled water to prevent fluid loss.

Calcium-Calcium Battery

A calcium-calcium battery is a popular type of battery which comprises of calcium alloys placed in differently charged plates which reduces the amount of self discharge. The only drawback is that if the battery is overcharged it would lead to severe damage. The electrolyte solution is easily mixed as the bubbles moving through the solution which mixes different acid densities.

Wet Or Flooded Battery

This is one of the most popular type of batteries as they are very cheap, their design uses plates which are freely suspended. These plates are separated with insulation, the negative plate is sealed in a separator bag. The fluid in the battery will remain until the battery dies therefore making it a maintenance free battery.

It is always wise to conduct a small research to know what battery suits your car, you can consult your owner’s manual or service guide book provided by your car manufacturer.
